I posted a blog about this but wanted to put it in a forum for those who don't necessarily notice the blogs. I put together a little video after I filmed a pygmy rattler on my street. It actually almost struck a man and his dof as they accidentally stepper over it. The video shows 'live' action from the pygmy and many still photos of various snakes and nature around the area.

I saw a red fox with two young yesterday but my camera was not with me. It was on Shalimar Pointe golf course. I also saw a hawk take a squirrel off the course. If anyone knows the kind of squirrel I'm talking about, they look different and I've only seen them on that golf course, although I'm sure they exist elsewehere. Anyway, I hope the video is enjoyed and my other I just added that shows the transformation of a dune lake.

This is cool; it's like your very own "Greatest Hits" video... I stil think you get to close to those serpents. How did you miss the alligator on the beach a few weeks ago?

I kayak Eastern Lake occasionaly and will be down there next weekend. Have you ever seen gators up on the northern half of the lake?

I actually just went out and saw 5 water moccasin. I was able to get three of them on film. I do get kinda close but hopefully if they hit anything they get the camera and not my fingers ;) I should rig up some boom or something to extend my camera on. I couldn't figure out how to operate my zoom earlier and had to get pretty close to a big cottonmouth. I think I need to zoom in before I press record. It's not really designed as a video camera.

But as far as getting too close, I have been up close to hundreds of posionous snakes in the past number of years and think I have a good sense of their behavior.

Thank you, Mike! That was very educational! I feel lucky that I have never seen a snake during my time in sowal. ;-)

I loved the pics of the kayaks in the spring. They looked as if they were floating in air!

You are lucky--you missed one by just minutes!
