The dunes, turtle nesting areas, general beach maintenance etc.. is this not maintained by the county? It would seem to me that legally beachfront property would have a property line to the dunes, or end of a grassed area and the property on the other side of that would be public property. I would think collectively our tax dollars go towards beach related projects. Am I wrong about this? If so, what happens post hurricane or tropical storm, are they responsible for their private beach clean up or replenishment? Somehow I doubt this is the case.

It seems like a non starter, with the whole private beach idea.It is almost like having someone that lives by the 331 bridge charging a toll for driving on a county maintained road and bridge.

This is why some beachfront property owners don't want beach nourishment. They are worried they give up their rights to the beach. It is also why they are putting up signs - trying to establish a historical ownership.
