Today the Walton Sun says that the county is looking to dredge for beach renourishment. They say they have 4 million towards the project, and will need to borrow 19 million more to be repaid with tourist bed taxes. The article states "The stretch between Topsail Hill State Preserve and Park and Henderson State Park will be the focus of the project. But the county is interested in working on the entire coastline in the future. "

My question is, does anyone know if the 23 mill is what's needed just for this finite stretch of beach, or is that the estimate to do the entire county? (The article is unclear.) Are those who live and own on the east side of the county SOL for now, or should we be reasonably assured that we will also receive renourishment in this effort? Thanks for any information anyone might have.

I read the article and wondered the same thing...surely they'll include all of 30A?

Please refrain from using the word "surely" when pondering anything the County is thinking about.

The money is for the project that has been planned for some time now for the west end, which was held up by a few homeowners but is now moving forward. I believe the current project also includes some of Inlet Beach.
Dredging for the rest of SoWal woul have to be planned, permitted, and funded. A process that usually takes years.

Prior to Ivan, these two areas were the only ones deemed critically eroded.
