I'm working with a crew that is arranging room in the Baytown Wharf dock area for a recycling bin. Turns out, they throw EVERYTHING out there except cardboard. A lot of the employees, owners and the Sandestin staff are looking for environmental-friendlier alternatives. Rum's(where I work) Graffiti's and the Door are working with us too. With as much business that goes through the Wharf, we could help the cause a lot. Maybe if we get it right, they'll even push to make the whole of Sandestin a member of the recycling community. They're already replacing lights with energy savers and various other eco-smart ideas.
Having everything in place by Earth Day is our goal. we'll have a dumpster there and start smoothing out what can and can't be reused, as well as a way to get it to the proper bins. We've gotten the dimensions of both sizes of recycling bins and are working on constructing a dock to surround the bin with an elevated platform and a ramp. (That way the employees don't have to lift full cans of glass, plastic, etc. over their heads to dump it.)
If there are any environmentally-friendly contractors that would like to aid in this endeavor, please contact either myself or Rum Runners to expedite the process. Any help, advice, etc. would be greatly welcomed.

Right here!
Sandestin residents already have curb side recycling through the blue bag program.

I started doing this a while back, just a little planning ahead - picking up a ton of bags from the court house and I bought three cheap trash bins from BB&B for the three main types of recyclables. I'm amazed now at how much stuff I actually use that can be recycled. Plastic containers, plastic bags, and junk mail / paper make up the bulk of it.
