Santa Rosa Beach Community Church History

I received an inquiry about the history of the formation of Santa Rosa Beach Community Church. The inquirer had heard that a hurricane in 1947 wiped out the Baptist, Catholic, and Methodist churches, and SRB Community Church started then. An online history of the church also mentions a hurricane but in the 1930s. A member of the church said she has not heard the hurricane story; she was told the church started from a need for a church between Point Washington and Destin.

I have found information about the major hurricanes of 1935 and 1947. Both hit northwest Florida but not near Walton County, so I am doubting that story.
