SEA TURTLE RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT!
Gulfarium CARE Center:
Join us this Thursday at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park as we release Doyle and Ripley, two rehabilitated loggerhead sea turtles, back into the Gulf!
Release starts promptly at 11:00 AM — but due to a chance of bad weather, we strongly encourage guests to arrive early. For the safety of the turtles and our guests, the release may be held earlier than scheduled or postponed if conditions are unsafe. Please follow our Sea Turtle Release Update channel on Facebook if you want up-to-date information.
Meet the turtles:
Doyle: A 154 lb subadult loggerhead rescued from Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier after being hooked. With a presumed old boat strike and anemia on intake, Doyle spent two months recovering with antibiotics, iron supplements, and TLC. Now, he's strong and ready for his return!
Ripley: Weighing 69 lbs, Ripley came to us from Navarre Beach Fishing Pier, also suffering from anemia and heavy barnacle/algae coverage. After a month of rehab and dedicated care, she’s ready to make a splash back home!
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
Thursday, July 17
Release begins at 11:00 AM (weather permitting, arrive early to allow time for taking the tram to the beach)
Let’s give these sea turtles the send-off they deserve!
