Soccer is taking off in South Walton, and it was on display again last night, as the South Walton Derby (definition: local rivalry) between Seaside Neighborhood School and Emerald Coast Middle School displayed an impressive amount of current and future soccer ability and talent here in Our Community.

In the girls match, US98 Soccer Spring and Fall 2008 Alumnus, Valentina Denda knocked in two goals right off the bat, before teammates and also US98 Soccer Alumni Hannah Petterson (Spring 2008) and Jessica Chapman (Spring and Fall 2008) each added goals, while Cailey Isacks (Spring 2008) represented well between the pipes, for the Emerald Coast Stingrays. The Stingrays were just a little too strong for the Seaside Sharks, but other US98 Soccer participants, Alex Weiner (Fall 2008), Chandler Davis (Spring and Fall 2008), Rafael Ledo-Massey (Spring 2008) did their best in a valiant effort.

In the boys match, US98 Soccer was again represented quite well with Henry Savoie (Spring and Fall 2008), Kevan Adams (Spring and Fall 2008), Mitchell Trantina (Fall 2008), and Cooper Isaacks (Spring 2008) holding down the Emerald Coast Stingrays back line, Morgan Tolbert (Fall 2008) and Brandon Chapman (Spring and Fall 2008) running the right wing, Edgar Flores (Spring and Fall 2008) commanding the midfield, and Ruben Lopez (Spring and Fall 2008) always a threat at striker, with Flores (winner of the Fall 2008 Golden Boot Award) making some fantastic moves in assisting and scoring.

The Players are a testament to their dedication and commitment to The Beautiful Game, and we look forward to watching and hearing about their participation and accomplishments not just in next week's re-match of the South Walton Derby (which begins at 3:00PM at The Stadium of Dreams at Helen McCall Park next Thursday afternoon, December 11th), but in all of their future soccer endeavours in middle school, high school, and beyond!

The Emerald Coast Stingrays were too much this day for the Seaside Sharks, but you can bet that the Gaffers, Dr. Steve Weiner for the girls and Joe Ribaudo (US98 Soccer Alumni for Spring and Fall 2008) for the boys, will have their squads ready when the Stingrays host the Sharks next week.

Come out and support Our Youth, as they have some Serious Fun!!

Cheers & See You Out On The Pitch!
