Seaside 30th Anniversary Art Contest
What has become your favorite Seaside icon over the years? The Obelisk? The Seaside Chapel? Modica Market? In celebration of Seaside?s 30th anniversary and the 23rd annual ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival, the Cultural Arts Association is calling all artists to participate in an art contest to create their interpretation of the Seaside icon that is most beloved, meaningful or interesting to them.
Only one winner will be chosen, and the winning artist will be announced at ArtsQuest and receive a $500 commission for their work that will remain the property of Seaside and be used by Seaside to celebrate and publicize the 30th anniversary. All other submitted artwork will become part of the CAA's permanent collection and will be on display inside participating Seaside businesses throughout ArtsQuest weekend,May 6 ? 8, 2011 and then at the Bayou Arts Center.
There are no limitations on size, shape, media or dimension. The only requirement is that it be representative of a well-known icon within the town of Seaside. There is no cost to participate. The contest is open to all ages and skill levels, and artists may submit more than one piece.
All artists must submit an application declaring their intent to compete in the contest by April 8, 2011. All artwork must be delivered and ready to be displayed to Seaside on Thursday, May 5, 2011 between 9am and 12pm.
