I am hoping maybe I can get some guidance. My daughter went on a trip to Seaside with her friends. They stayed in a house that had 3 bikes . They supposedly have locking codes. However, all three bikes had got stolen. My daughter said she locked hers, but of course, no one believes the kids. The bikes got taken on different days which makes me think the kids may be telling the truth. Logically, if one got stolen the kids would of used the codes on the remaining two. The place wants $300 per bike claiming the codes were not used. I can not help but think there may be some kind of scam going on. The beach bikes are pretty generic it is not like your going to have a big market for them unless whoever is stealing is selling them back to the rental owners via craigslist or a market.

They all have the same code? Are bikes through the home rental co. or a bike rental co?

Usually there are plenty of unlocked bikes around. Kids grab them, ride them and ditch them.

I haven't heard of any organized theft but Check with Seaside security and Walton Sheriff. I doubt there's any resales in the area but maybe there being sent elsewhere.
