We have been allowed to bring our own chairs when staying at Seaside since 2008. (Lots of homeowners do.) Space allowed between cabanaman on either side of stels. We never sit in front of them. We enjoy sitting at waters edge.

Today we were told we could no longer sit at the water’s edge. Town Council decision. Deputy/Seaside security told us. Homeowners confirmed. We can move east and sit up in front of the private residences if we want to or sit to the side/behind the setups.

We think the chair setups are overpriced. We would rather spend that money at your local restaurants & shops which we do at least once daily.

1998. First year to stay on 30A. Visited since end of 1980s.

We do other travel but we’ll just do more and say goodbye 30A. We do have one more visit planned in September so we can officially say goodbye.

Good long run. Seaside cottages are slowly being torn down and rebuilt.

(I think we can sit at water’s edge b4 and after chairs are gone/empty in the evening.

Side note: Hell froze over. Bud’s has HH drink prices 3:00-5:00!!! And some reduced food prices!!!!

Also no more codes to get through Seaside gates. Technology advancement: wrist bands to scan at gate!

Thanks for the update - try out Carillon Beach - similar to Seaside hones but bigger lots and easy beaches no hassles like Walton County.

This might be misdirected at the vendors.

They did update the beach ordinance that there is to be an unobstructed corridor from the edge of the water northward for emergencies. I believe it's 10 feet.

We have a wider space than that but they are now saying we can’t sit any closer to the beach than the chair set ups. If they have 2 rows we have to be row 3 in our space in front of the steps or behind them.
So no consistent explanation. That happens with messages as they are communicated from one person to another.
Thanks Ellen

I misunderstood the space for emergency vehicles. The space by the dunes for them to drive through. Yes, we've always honored that. We have spoken to at least 5 different employees and cannot get the same answer. Oh well. Thank goodness no tornado here. Hope everyone is alright in Tallahassee. Ellen
