Sowalers...I am not sure this is the correct spot to post this, if not then Kurt will move.
We received this at the college this morning. I thought I would pass it along in case anyone might be able to help this person.

It saddens me to see how many of our veterans are surviving...IMO they all deserve better because of what they did for our country.

Friends,
Staff is attempting to assist a disabled Vietnam Era Veteran who is in pretty dire straits. He needs assistance at a far deeper level than we usually provide but we cannot locate any other agency that can/will take him on.
We are addressing some of his problems ourselves with a little help from other partners but need help with a really big issue – housing.
Our Vet has a lot off county 2301. He has an ancient, leaky, uninhabitable mobile home on the lot that is infested with mold. He is living in a storage shed on the lot that he has fixed up to be his home but it also has a mold problem which is negatively impacting his health. He has appointments at the VA clinic on the Navy Base that we’re going provide transportation for but I am afraid that once he gets this infection cleared up he’ll just end up with the problem again from living with the mold.
Oh – he has a 1986 truck that needs repairs but is currently getting him back and forth to town once per month for groceries.

What we are looking for is a travel trailer or mobile home in decent condition that can be taken to his lot and the service of delivering, hooking up and tying down if we can get a mobile home. Needless to say, “free” is the price we are looking for and if someone can donate such a thing the Board is a 501(c)(3) so the donor would receive a tax deduction.

If you have any ideas or want to try to help somehow, please email Case Manager Judy Turcotte at jturcotte@gcwb.org. We have contacted the County Veterans’ Office, Goodwill, the Homeless Coalition and anyone else I can think of – Council on Aging is helping us with the power bill.

Thanks much.

What a blessing you all are, to this wonderdul veteran!

My son served his country and I know first hand how the system sometimes, fails our veterans!:bang: There has never been enough assistance in any way, waiting to provide what they deserve!:sosad: Bless you all, for assisting him!
