This is not good for our area; not good for the beaches, not good for Eglin and not good for the economy. I am all for drilling to improve our energy reserves but the 125 mile limit seems like a reasonable restriction.

We all knew this was coming, guys. Asking a big corporation like an oil company to not spend a bunch of money to lobby and manipulate our congressional leaders into allowing their input on this type of regulatory legislation is like trying to convince a lion that he should become a vegetarian. If they can cut corners and lower safety and environmental protection requirements to save a buck and increase their bottom line, they will. So what can we do? Now would be a good time to start contacting your legislators and let your opinions be heard, and always be sure to lead with "I am one of your constituents, and I vote."

http://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact You can contact the Florida senator that I can almost guarantee is on board with letting the oil industry have their way with our beautiful beaches and coasts again here.

https://www.billnelson.senate.gov/contact-bill Here you can contact Bill Nelson and let him know you support his stance to do everything in his power to block this legislation and that you stand with him.

If I remember correctly the entire Florida delegation was against this last time across party lines. I may be giving all of them too much credit and I will try and find out for sure.
