A bill many Walton residents may be interested in has been introduced by Representative Marti Coley -- HB 13 "Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems." The bill basically erases the regulations that required testing of private septic systems every five years.
This bill seeks to relieve septic tank owners of the financial burden required to pay for testing by a licensed professional but does not address the impact of malfunctioning septic systems on the environment and our water tables.
