Sheet Zoo puppies are about the cutest things God ever made...:love::love:

I've only known one shih Tzu, Belle, and she was a total biotch! But, I still loved her.

Belle belonged to my best girlfriend, and when they visited, Belle would bite Kirky-Baby on the ankles anytime he walked anywhere near her (we would laugh like crazy), and she would come sit right next to me on the sofa and if I even started to pet her, my hand would be bloody in a split second.

had to bann her from my house after the baby was born.

Belle recently passed away and was quite old. I found the most adorable watercolor print of a Shih Tzu, by Donna Burgess, had it framed and sending it to Belle's owner for christmas.

Oh My Tootsie! :yikes:

As many Shih Tzu as I've had, known many breeders of them, and had them in my family (sisters, mother, daughter, neice, etc.) I HAVE NEVER known one to be like that! In fact the breed is one of the most loved of all breeds, but you know dogs can be like people and you can get a really bad child sometimes!

:love:I love that you sent your friend a picture of one for Christmas. That's so cool! My mother-in-law (not Doug's Mom) has an incredible oil painting of hers, who has passed away...his name was Christmas. It's a beautiful painting and is on her wall in the living room. An artist in California saw him and had to paint his portrait.

By the way I love your tar!!!!!

My mother owns this dog's evil twin. I have told Kat many times about him. He sounds just like this dog, we never pet him, as we know we would draw back a stub.

However I do think in my Mom's dog's case it as much their fault for not socializing the dog as the dog's fault. Kat and her daughter are wise to not let the puppies go too early.

 DO NOT PET THE EVIL TWIN! I know what you mean. Belle was fiercely protective of her owners and would be afraid for you to go near any of them. She was not socialized either.

but, my Lulu (yellow lab) really was never socialized because she came along just when my son was born, so we didn't have the time to take her out much. but she's still a sweet heart to anyone who comes around. however, she does not really care for other dogs - especially small evil ones.

Maggie's the same way. She doesn't mind other big dogs, but the small ones, not so much.

Well with dogs there is human socialization and doggie. With your lab, Tootsie, I am sure with a new baby in the house you had people visiting and coming and going to see the baby. Therefore indirectly your lab was socialized to other people. However you probably did not have as much time to socialize her to other dogs.

My Mom's shih tzu did not recieve proper human or dog socialization. We had never properly done this either until the lab we have now. Mainly because with a child in the house and jobs we simply did not have time, or truly know better. When our daughter gave us this lab 3 years ago I was determined that this dog would be good with everyone, people and dogs included, so I did extensive research and took her to classes. Now because of the extra time spent when she was young we can travel with her.

But as Kat said usually Shih Tzu's are very mannerly as are labs, but you can have some that due to breeding or lack of early socialization are more of a challenge.

all so true. Lulu is a wonderfully behaved girl, and travels beautifully with us. we do plan most of our vacations around having her come with us! But she doesn't do so well on a leash out in public, say at Seaside. She just gets too excited and wants to run and check out every single thing. But I know she wouldn't run far - she's a big old sissy.

I know shih tzy's are good ones. Belle, however, had some unique issues... she was a very unique dog, and very much loved.
