We got a letter yesterday from the Walton County Public Works Division. The letter said that they were going to put a sidewalk down the east side of San Juan and construction is going to start in 3 weeks. Who thought it would be a good idea to spend tax payer dollars on a sidewalk on sleepy old San Juan Ave?

Most likely a perceived safety issue...
There are a lot of homes back there. I wonder if the beach access is getting some additional parking along there somewhere.
Did the letter mention how far north the sidewalk would extend?
Really. Argh!
The letter said that the project will start at County Road 30-a and end a Bellwood Street, where ever that is. The letter also said to contact Quintin Smith (850) 892-8108 if anyone has any questions.
Odd choice for a new sidewalk location. I can think of other roads that should take priority due to much greater traffic and need.
Actually, San Juan, south of bellwood/barcelona, has considerable traffic feeding the neighborhood to 30A. There is talk of another neighborhood access in the future by connecting Montigo Ave. In the meantime, the sidewalk has been approved for pedestrian safety.
