SWFD:
40 YEARS OF SWFD!
On August 9, 1983, the Walton County Board of County Commissioners created the South Walton Fire District (SWFD) as a special taxing district through county ordinance.
Residents then voted on September 20, 1983, to establish SWFD as the jurisdictional taxing authority responsible for the fire protection of all properties located south of the Choctawhatchee Bay between the Okaloosa and Bay County lines.
What started as a small group of founding members, with the determination to improve emergency resources and response in South Walton, has developed into the SWFD you see today.
A lot has changed about our agency over the past 40 years, but our commitment to our community has not. Thank you for your support and here's to an amazing 40th "birthday" year! Now... where's the cake? We're ready to celebrate!
