COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR:
The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is a professional fire/rescue agency located in
the premier beach community of the Florida panhandle. Nestled in the southern portion
of Walton County with 26 miles of beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, our District is
responsible for the Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Services Transport, Beach
Lifeguards, Hazardous Material Mitigation and Public Education and Prevention
activities for 84 square miles. Our population ranges from 20,000 to over 100,000
depending on our tourist season.
The SWFD Communications Division Director will requires the knowledge, skills and
abilities to manage/coordinate the Fire District’s Communications Division including the
planning/development of goals, policies, procedures, progressive leadership and
supervision of the 911 Communications Center staff, and excellent customer service
skills. A successful candidate will demonstrate the experience and ability to lead and
supervise with strong personal traits of teambuilding and coaching skills.
The preferred qualifications will consist of:
• Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator certification
• National Academy of Emergency Dispatching (NAED) certifications of:
o Emergency Medical Dispatcher
o Emergency Fire Dispatcher
o Quality Assurance
A combination of education and progressive supervisory experience may be
considered.
The SWFD offers an excellent benefits and compensation package, including
health/dental coverage and retirement options. This position’s salary is $40,000 –
