PLANE CRASH IN SOUTH WALTON COUNTY, FL

The Walton Sheriff?s Office is participating in the investigation of a single-engine plane crash that occurred on Sunday at 11:33 am in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 150 yards off shore in the Miramar Beach area of Walton County, Florida. Records show that the crashed airplane is a 1970 single-engine Blanca Scout. The pilot, John R. Gray of Louisiana, was able to reach the beach and called for help.
The plane is still in the water. The pilot reported having engine trouble prior to the crash. The pilot was the only person on board.
Responding agencies include the Walton Sheriff?s Office, South Walton Fire and Walton HazMat.
