That's not correct. FSU has canceled spring break and moved graduation up a week.

Ohhh, boy! A list of a wave of superspreader COVID events. Fortunately for us, most of the springbreakers will be here and gone before they become infectious. Not so fortunate for the many towns and cities to which they'll be returning.

Would not common sense from the Walton County BCC and local Tourist Development Council (and Walton County Department of Health, and Walton County Emergency Management Office) be working to dissuade springbreakers coming to Walton County?

I understand the impact to county, business and resident revenues, but this is the year (2020+) for some significant decisions on Spring tourism...... Are we going to repeat last Spring's long lines at the trailers at Seaside, etc, etc, etc?

October was awful. I made a note years ago to not come down in October, but with other vacations postponed & other Seaside trips moved, we decided to come down. It was awful Like Spring break might be. I complained on FB to Seaside and we finally got security to head to the pavilions to block people (kids were either sharing gate codes or climbing the gates.) Sherriff finally drove down on the beach just east of Seaside where the 'kids' moved to in front of the 3 big new homes. Last time we came down for Spring Break, 2010, kids weren't bad, there were just so many and everything was crowded. With covid, we knew we would be adjusting, and we did, but the kids. We saw kids being picked up by parents behind Great Southern. Security complained that a lot came from Watercolor. I don't know but Seaside was awful and no more October. We have 3 one week trips planned: May, August, September. We will probably do the same that we did last year. Masks. Food to go. (Loved the bar set up at Great Southern). Went to the beach early & returned after a early dinner for a few hours & sunset. Rode our bikes. Walked. We tried to staying on the beach one summer but we prefer parking & not having to drive everywhere. Ellen (Is it January 20th yet?)

The decision to reopen the beaches was left to investors by the BCC. So many people elevated their mortgage payments over the lives of residents.
