Hello everyone there is a lurker in town that has a question. Just found several starfish while walking on the beach. Is it worth preserving them, is it as easy as the info I found below?

The best way to preserve a starfish is to soak it in 70% isopropyl alcohol overnight. After doing this let it dry out real well on a paper towel, out in the sun if at all possible. You might also want to weigh down the legs so that it does not curl up as it dries.

Thanks in advance for any input you may be able to give me.

It is not that common to find them. I would save a couple.
Were they already dead?

Yes they were definitely dead, I was taking a piece of glass to the trash bag near a camp creek walkover, someone had put one on top of the lid. I walked a little more east found more on the beach, the tide was very low so they were well up on the beach. Funny, we just went yesterday, bought one for my grand-daughter.

In all the years we have been here, have never seen any on the beach, so it was a great find.
