Greetings! Looking forward to the first week in May 2005, when I'll be in a GB cabin. When I made my reservation, I learned that (in the cabin area) only stairs beach access was currently available due to Ivan damage. According to someone at the Park, they are waiting for FEMA money to repair the boardwalk access.

Here's the deal: I'm in a wheelchair, and so depend on the boardwalk access. I'm trying to get more info on when repairs will be done (i.e., will they be done by May). If they're not done, Plan B kicks in and I'll go wherever the nearest accessible access is.

Can anyone provide any info, or point me in the right direction? To the extent I can help move this along faster, I'd be willing to call/write the appropriate people - who are they?. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
BB

Well if they're waiting on government money then who can say when a ramp construction will even begin?

Who are you thinking might have that kind of info? I would think the person responsible for filing, receiving and disbursing the funds - with the State Park service.

... and, with the gov't making the repairs, how long do you think it will take them to finish?

The walkover at Grayton State Park was the first one I saw repaired after Ivan, but they didn't repair the ramp.
