The Parks & Recreation Dept of Walton Co last summer for an extremely affordable price and can include a school lunch held a daily camp at the South Walton High School. It was mostly h.s. seniors or college freshman there with the kids but it was a good time. They took a walk to the library, had water fun day and did activities in the gym when it was just way too hot to be outside. Plenty of kids from school there. SPICE had me a little skeptical with the road trips  I'm too crazy when it comes to a bunch of kids on the loose w/ teens to watch them at a public venue. I am more comfortable knowing she is not leaving the property! I'm sure if you call the Parks & Rec Dept. they will have more info.
If you are in the Gulf Place area, they also had kids club at Resortquest, and you don't have to be a guest. Just pay the fee and they swim or do arts and crafts for a few hours.

My name is Matt Cassidy and I own and operate the Ride On Surf School in Destin right behind Pompano Joes Restaurant. Not sure if you would be interested in this kind of camp or not but I figured I would atleast give you some info and let you decide. We'll be offering camps sponsored by Billabong all spring and summer for kids. There will be 2 and 3 day camps running each week from 9-12 each day. We cover many things in the camps such as how to look for rip tides, how to escape a rip tide, marine life education, general ocean safety as well as all of the ins and outs of the surfing lifestyle. All of our instructors are CPR and First Aid Certified. I can promise you they will be good and worn out by the end of each day and smiling ear to ear. Our website will be completely updated with all of the correct information in the next couple of weeks. But if you would like to know anything sooner please give me a call anytime. Hope to see you out there! Matt Cassidy 850.582.2593 www.rideonsurf.com

Besides Spice, and Parks & Rec, the Boys and Girls club next to the library does a summer camp. Also, almost all the churches in the area do a vacation bible school that is usually 1-2 weeks long.

Sandy pants,

Guess that was one critical piece of info I forgot to include. Ages 8-18 are the norm however if you have say a 5 or 6 year old they can join in as well as long as they are competent swimmers and you are comfortable with them being in the water on their own. We are always close by to help everyone but certain times they may have to take it on themselves until we can get to them. Same way for anyone over 18, if they don't mind being mixed in with the young ones they are welcome as well. If you have any other questions let me know!

This is a good option. But SPICE is fine too, if you can get in. Perhaps with the new programs opening, the overfill at SPICE has eased off.

We loved the field trips - most were arranged so that the kids will be the only ones at the attraction. Also, for skating, the rink is only open for SPICE kids. At least this is how it was for the 6 years my son went. The only issues we ever had were a sunburn, which stopped the trips to the water park (childcare providers are not permitted to touch a child in order to apply sunscreen, and this was before spray sunscreen was perfected), and also the time there was the forest fire and the SWFD/WCSO *forgot* that 80-something children were in two portables behind Butler Elementary.
