Oh, we just drove in! Spent eight days in Seagrove and somehow missed the Red Tide completely, the beaches were growing more beautiful by the day. We went to the Seaside Garage Sale on Saturday and got there early enough to load the car to resemble gypsies returning to Missouri! We went to Destin to the Seafood Festival on Friday night and Saturday and purchased collectables there also! We walked Crystal Beach in Destin, Gulf Trace, Ed Wallene (sp) and the walk-over behind Goat Feathers, Blue Mountain, and Seagrove and felt despite it all, if the hurricanes will just leave us alone, we are going to make it! We got Sowal stickers for our cars and missed everyone at tea time, but we are old so you would have wondered who the blue hairs were! What at great time at such a wonderful place!

Sometimes the "blue hairs" are the most fun of all ;-) Sounds like a wonderful trip.

I'm so jealous you got to the Seaside Yard Sale! What did you buy? I wanted to go but my husband was packing up the car to go home that morning. He had this look on his face that said "Enough is enough, NO more shopping!" So I missed it. Anything good?

Oh, color me green! The Seaside Garage Sale is a blast; wish I could plan to make it every year! But for you to get to do that and go to the Seafood Fest is just plain unfair! :bang:

Oh, I got this wonderful "Ole Blue Chair" with a wicker seat, several great baskets, many "fishy" things for the walls etc, and of course, six long sleeve Seaside tee shirts for my whole family from the Art Fest last weekend. The sale was incredible, almost like circuit overload or just too much for me! We got there early and had to leave because there was no more room in our car! Prices were very cheap! Seems like I bought more. hmmm

njackie - Thanks for your trip update. Glad you had such fun!

What were the beaches like at Ed Walline and BMB by Goatfeathers?

The beach behind Goatfeathers was eroded but we were able to walk there without harming any vegetation, I saw homes with severe erosion beneath them and some with decks or porches either gone or slipping down, but did not see anything there as severe as some condos in Seagrove. Ed Wallene in
both directions had a great deal of sand shoring up home and condos, there was beach erosion, again some decks and patios slipping. There were at least three weddings on those beaches on Saturday night and it was just beautiful. The beach walks were pretty much destroyed from approximately half the way down but there was sand beside each beach walk and many people were carefully making their way too the beaches. Hope I have helped just a little. The beaches look to be improving by the day as we were there. Although, there are many on this board who don't think the scraping helps, it seemed to me that, with the sand being brought in, aided in protecting the shoreline along with beachfront properties.
