Another question for the photographers on the board:

From Seagrove Beach, in June, the sun had the appearance it was setting over land.

In September, I've seen photos that look like the sun is now setting over the gulf. Is that true? :dunno:

Maybe a function of how many drinks have been consumed?

This is true. The sun travels in an arc through the sky, only going directly overhead at the equator. In the summer, the arc is larger, so the days are longer and the sun sets over the land, more to the north. In the winter, the arc is smaller, and the sun rises and sets over the water. two for one deal we got.

Yes. There is a Walton County ordinance pertaining to seasonal sunrise and sunset locations.

The sunsets last week were incredible! The sun was sooooo huge and it cast an even bigger swath of color across the water. Reminded me of the sloe gin fizz drinks (or is it tequila sunrise I'm thinking of?) that I used to drink in college--long time since I've seen those!

or my sunset drink, a modified Malibu Bay Breeze. Not a huge drinker, much less rum drinker, but it's delicous and the color of the Sowal sun:

1 1/2 oz Malibu rum;
Splash of dark rum
2 oz Cranberry juice;
2 oz Pineapple juice.
Squeeze of fresh florida orange.

Mix, serve over ice, drink on beach at sunset.
