#SWFDNews | SPLASH INTO THE NEW YEAR WITH SWFD AT THE 2025 POLAR BEAR PLUNGE!
SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. --- Rinse off the old and welcome the new! South Walton Fire District will hold its 11th Annual Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day at Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar.
Participants are invited to the restaurant location starting at 11 a.m. to pick up their event towel after the completion of the online registration process. The annual costume contest will begin at 12 p.m. at the restaurant, followed by the plunge itself at 1 p.m. at Ed Walline Beach Access.
Registration costs $20 per person, and children 12 years old and under can participate for free. The funds raised at the event will benefit SWFD’s 2025 Community Education Programs.
“The Polar Bear Plunge allows us to connect with our community while bolstering the programs that help keep our residents and visitors safe,” said SWFD Fire Chief Ryan Crawford. “We look forward to hosting this event for another year, thanks to the support of our partners at Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar and our Fire District leadership.”
SWFD Beach Safety will monitor surf conditions leading up to the event and incorporate a safety plan into the day’s festivities based on the surf hazards.
