South Walton Fire District:
GET YOUR START WITH SWFD BEACH SAFETY!
Meet Justin Lentz, he's a former South Walton Fire District lifeguard who now works as an Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care Physician Assistant (PA).
During his summers spent on the beach, Lentz most enjoyed how the role pushed him physically to become a better swimmer, as well as mentally to grow into a better lifeguard and person. Thanks to his lifeguarding career, he developed the skills he needed to succeed in the field of emergency medicine.
"The ability to stay calm under pressure, quick decision-making, and effective communication are traits honed by my lifeguard experience," Lentz said. "These skills have proven invaluable as a PA."
Lentz encourages others to consider becoming a lifeguard, even if they aren't the strongest swimmer. The career is fulfilling as it offers a sense of responsibility and community, while fostering personal growth and lifesaving skills.
If you're like Lentz and interested in a career in the medical field, get your start with SWFD Beach Safety! We're now hiring lifeguards for the 2024 season with starting pay ranging $20-$22.14/hour and full-time opportunities are available.
