South Walton Fire District
New Year's Eve Fireworks
Earlier this year, Senate Bill 140 was signed into law which now makes it “legal” for Floridians to set off real fireworks on three specific holidays: Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
If you choose to shoot fireworks in our community, it is extremely important to remember the following:
1). South Walton is surrounded by thousands of acres of state forest and wild-land area. See Mussett Bayou Wildfire
2). SWFD cannot grant you permission to shoot fireworks on any public beach.
3). It is still illegal Under Florida Law (Florida Statute 791.02) for any person to use or explode any fireworks during any other day of the year except on the 3 days listed.
4). Fireworks are still dangerous and can cause injury or worse.
SWFD encourages you and your guests to not take the risk and "Leave the Shows to the Pros".
