"TEA"-dious.... angry white, middle class John McCain and Ron Paul supporters.. quick to carry a banner to complaining about socialism, but not willing tear up their "socialist" Medicare and Social Security Cards.

A great theme party though, if you would even go to one invited by Fox/Newt and Company.

Can't define it here, but does anyone know the "other" meaning of "teabagging"...I laugh when I hear it used.:rotfl:

Punzy, good points about the Boston Tea Party. In today's world, the Founding Fathers of the United States of America would be sent to Gitmo to be held as terrorists and traitors.
You know, I wish some would remember the "Founding Fathers" do not live in today's world and it is futile to try and compare or state what would happen to them in today's America. It seems I remember some "protests" I consider very unAmerican occurring while I was busy laying my life on the line in Viet Nam. So what is unAmerican to me may not be so to others and visa versa. It is every American's right to protest and the "tea party" protest is not a one party only function IMO. Be that as it may, I don't ever remember a Conservative protest. I am also sure some bright eyed Googlist will quote me several but the point is I am not protesting any one thing but many. Congress, Immigration, Taxes, Lack of Term Limits, you surely get the picture. BTW, my wife and I will be there. Drop by and say "Hi" and tell me why you think everything in this great country, at this time, is A-OK.

Just curious. Personally, I do not feel I was placed here to judge. There will be a time and a place for that. Not like tea is going to keep someone from starving anyway.

The problem I have with the whole thing is the principles of the people doing it. Bob Sullivan is a great guy. I wish him the best and am happy to see someone taking an interest in something they believe in. I look forward in working with him in 2010.

Mary Brown, after talking up the tea party, said that people should support the tax increase on tourists since no one local was having to pay for it. She voted against it at the TDC board meeting, then wrote a letter to the BCC endorsing it. I am looking for more principled conservatives. People whom I have a pretty good idea as to what they stand for.

So, I will more than likely stay home. Got a lot of reading to do.

Consistent inconsistencies in ones thought process!! Not cool! We pay for it in insurance prem. and taxes just to name two!!

Aren't a lot of these just going to be "I hate Obama so let's vent" affairs. They're just support groups for downtrodden (in their delusional minds) losers. Their candidate took a really good teabaggin in the election and so now it's payback time, well at least in their minds. The funny part about it is that the taxes they seem to be having such a problem with are a product of the previous administrations. Yeah, I know, it's all about what policies Obama plans to implement. Give me a break. These are gripe sessions to rant about Obama's foreigner status, his Muslim religion, William Ayers, Reverend Wright, firearm confiscation, evolution, constitution, revolution, no solution, mass confusion, whatever....

That did occur to me; however, Brian Wms just stated that April 15 has become a day for those WHO WORK learn to hate! Now, you and I both know that one pays taxes even if he/she doesn't work! Many, many taxes!

Yikes! I need to get out more! I've read all the posts here and have a few questons.

1) Could someone actually be going to one of these tea parties to protest something other than Mr. Obama? Like, maybe, the CONGRESS? :dunno:

2) Do all card carrying Democrats smile when they pay their income taxes? Do they voluntarily send more than they owe for the government to use at their discretion?

3) This is a tough one....I would LOVE to hear from a card carrying Democrat that is in the top 5 % of wage earners and have them explain to me why sending more $ to Washington will help the people in this country that really need it. I would welcome your PMs, as it is really a confidential matter.

I will tell you one good outcome from this shift and cleansing of our country...Mr. K and I had a great conversation last night about where to use our charitable monies. For us, one of the most gratifying byproducts of our good fortune is to give to so many wonderful and dynamic charities. I have stated before, that if we could be responsible for giving any tax monies from a higher tax away to charity, it would be a no brainer and we could smile while we wrote those checks!!!

For now, I continue to have faith in my President. I pray he can help this country find a balance.

Good questions, Kitty. When I pay my bills, whether tax bills or the power bill, I say, "thank you," because I have the money to pay. Aggravating on some fees and taxes? Yes! But, thankful nonetheless and probably more thankful in this economy!

:D...good one. I went and got a half and half iced tea in protest.

Half sweet, half unsweet? Puhleeze tell me no! No self-respecting Southern Type would eva do that! Oh, I forgot, you're from Texas  that ain't the South!

Jeez, guys, I'm really amazed to see folks in here saying they should all go home and do "something constructive". Maybe all the folks protesting the vietnam or iraq wars should have done the same? Obviously not. It's called free expression - it's a good thing when you see it happening. God forbid we all decide to dive into our comfy loungers and stop voicing our opinion.

The problem is this is such a scheme. In the case of the Iraq and Vietnam, it was the wars that were a scheme, not the protestations.

How so? A million or so folks all turn out for a cross country protest of government spending? What's "the scheme"? Seems like a pretty good idea to me.

You miss the point. What people are saying is we cannot continue to spend 4 trillion and collect 3 trillion. Either you cut spending or raise taxes. The tea parties are for those who choose to cut spending and do not want any more taxes. The truth is at this stage we have ourselves in such a mess that both will have to occur and the result will be painful.:dunno: But I think we should cut spending first and only tax as a last resort.

How about a sincere concern for the mess we are leaving our children with due to years and years of overspending? The scheme is how a dozen Presidents from both parties have overspent and run up trillions in debt.
