The Gulf Okaloosa Island - Waterfront Restaurant Hosts Official Grand Opening

Okaloosa Island, FLA. (November 21, 2016) The restaurant group behind The Gulf in Orange Beach, The Hangout Restaurant and the popular Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, has introduced Okaloosa Island’s newest restaurant destination. The Gulf Okaloosa Island is a locally driven concept, offering fresh, locally sourced food and beverage options for lunch and dinner, all served in a laid back atmosphere and with stunning bay views. The Gulf Okaloosa Island celebrated its official introduction to the community on Thursday, November 10, 2016, with a Welcome Party and VIP reception.

Nearly 300 individuals, local business owners and area dignitaries, including Okaloosa and neighboring county’s government officials, were in attendance to celebrate this momentous occasion. Guests indulged in hand-muddled mojitos, local craft beers, cocktails and samplings of some of the delicious, and ever-changing, menu creations including Gulf Burgers, fried Grouper Sandwiches, Pulled Pork Sliders and grilled Fish Tacos. The evening’s entertainment was provided by resident brass band of New Orleans', Preservation Hall Brass Band. Led by renowned former Preservation Hall Jazz Band trombonist and teacher Maynard Chatters, their distinctly New Orleans take on traditional marching tunes were a favorite of many. During the Preservation Hall Brass Band intermission, the sounds of The Gulf Okaloosa Island’s carefully procured vinyl collection filled the air.

The 13,701-square foot restaurant includes 5,280 square feet of enclosed space, 3,646 square feet of covered space and an additional 4,775 square feet of uncovered deck. The flexible floorplan and relaxed environment, along with a custom crafted menu, allows The Gulf Okaloosa Island to accommodate events of all sizes, from intimate dinner parties, to full-scale weddings. The restaurants’ varied spaces, both indoor and outdoor, are available for booking now. Future plans include a dock for guests who want to come by boat.

Situated on the corner of Marler Avenue and Siebert Drive on Okaloosa Island, the two-story space, constructed with recycled shipping containers, features indoor and outdoor dining, two bars and an indoor gift shop with “a curated selection” of lifestyle items. Serving lunch and dinner daily, The Gulf Okaloosa Island offers a daily chalkboard menu, which features seasonal options made with locally sourced ingredients. The culinary concentration is on premium ingredients including Gulf seafood and produce from neighboring regional farmers.
