Just wanted to say hello to everybody. I stumbled upon this site the night of Katrina. I was looking for any status reports on the beaches in South Walton. I found that and more right here and I thank you.

The reason I was worried is because I own three lots in the area. The first one is the lot across the street from the Oyster Lake outlet with the O'brien real estate sign on it (I hope it didn't get washed out. I saw the pictures were 30-A was undermined.). I'm a little worried right about now. I know it is a low lot but it's got great views and is across the street from the beach which I love. I had the big hole filled-in it had on it about two weeks ago to try to level the lot out a little bit. I was going to build a house on it at first and even bought the plans but then the realtor showed me another lot on Oyster Lake. If you are on 30-A and look across the lake, it's the one next to the condos. It had a "For Sale" banner on it tied to some trees. The banner may be gone after Katrina. I don't know. My third lot is over in Driftwood Estates behind the new gate on the Choctawhatchee Bay. I can't keep them all. I have to sell at least two of them. Which ever one is left, I'll probably build that house.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hey and say thank you guys for posting the pictures. I've read most of the threads and you guys seem to be a pretty good lot. :)

Take care and me and the wife will keep praying for the folks to the west.

Thank you for the update. It's been wieghing on me all day. I sit here now watching the news of all the devistation and feel very lucky and sick at the same time. I'm glad Katrina didn't "take us out". It is unbelieveably terrible what has happened.

I hope to make it down very soon. You guys take care.

Robert, it doesn't look like your dirt on 30-A even got wet. Oyster Lake is at a normal level to maybe 6" higher.
