The Nutcracker

The Dance Theatre of Northwest Florida will be performing The Nutcracker at South Walton High School December 13. These are all local dancers and crew.

The performance is at 3 p.m. and there are still tickets available. I am taking my granddaughter as part of her Christmas gift. Seeing The Nutcracker has been a tradition in our family. I took my son to see it at Lincoln Center when he was four years old...he still remembers it!

Please come out and support our local dancers and their parents who work so hard to make this wonderful performance available to us right here in our community.

Not yet. But, I've now put it on my calendar. I may go to NoWal first for the Walton County History Museum's special antique toy display and demonstration at 1 p.m. before Nutcracker at SoWal's SWHS. Some fabulous SoWal toy woodmakers and nutcrackers might be at museum in DFS. My most memorable Nutcracker performance was in Anchorage, Alaska with my young daughter. The Anchorage Symphony provided live music and it was magical. Every child should see the Nutcracker in a live performance at least once, if not as a yearly tradition.

My grandaughter and I enjoyed a wonderful performance yesterday at South Walton High School. I'm happy to say the house was full.

It was a wonderful performance -- and we did not have to drive for an hour in horrible traffic.

Congrats to the cast and to whomever is responsible for having The Nutcracker at South Walton High.
