Where Free Speech Is Allowed
O.K. folks I make things for a living. The religious fanatics were banging on the door ever day through the holidays. So I made a Cult members only sign. Bingo they stopped banging on the door. So today at 3:15 some A--HOLE pulled into the driveway and stole the sign. My wife was looking out the windows and called the cops. This A--Hole was wearing a bright yellow shirt driving a blue Honda CR-V. he was tall and had black hair. She got a good look at him. Anyways anyone that knows me knows what will happen to the poor sap if I get a hold of Mr. S--T for brains. 30-A is faster than the INTERNET, so hopefully he will be found fast. Bottom line is that thieves are the scum of the earth in my book. :bang: :banned: :ninja: Thieves have been doing broad daylight stealing from east to west Pt. Washington and Grayton. Hope somebody finds him! Thanks ALL.

Dammmmmm, what is he thinking, that it is "found art"? That just stinks.

I am very skeptical about "religious" people ringing our doorbell and trying to "save" us. (I am also really tired of them bothering me by ringing the doorbell and me having to deal with them. I never open the door for fear that they'll overpower me and rush in to rob us.) Almost every Sunday we play in the strings group at the big Methodist church in town, so they don't need to save us, thank you very much (even though we can't totally buy into the virgin birth story  ). They mostly visit at times when one is likely to be out of town (school holidays, summer, etc.), so we think they are casing the house to see if we're gone and can rob us (as many of you know, we've already had one home invasion). I posted a sign on the sidelights by our front door:

GET OFF OUR PROPERTY!
UNLESS YOU ARE A FRIEND,
FAMILY, OR USPS/UPS/FEDEX,
YOU ARE TRESPASSING!
DO NOT BOTHER US BY
RINGING THE DOORBELL!
WE HAVE A GUN, AND
WE KNOW HOW TO USE IT!

We had a home invasion. They cut the phone lines so that the alarm system wouldn't call the police. Part of their M.O. was that they'd watch a house from the woods in the back yard for activity. If they didn't see activity and noticed just one car, they assumed the owners were absent. Well, Big D was in Tokyo, so his car was at the Atlanta airport, and BJ and I went to bed early because it was just before exams, and I had worked my butt off getting my final projects, study guides, and exams ready for my students.

The burglar alarm went off when they broke down the back doors, it woke me up, I unsuccessfully tried to reset the alarm, and I attempted to call the police for help BUT THE PHONE LINE WAS BROKEN! We ran down the stairs, saw the back of the house broken down, ran to the car, ran back to the house to get the poodles, and drove to our neighbor's house across the street to get help. Unfortunely, the last flight from Tokyo had left, so Big D couldn't get home for two days. My brother drove from Newnan with his gun, and we sat by the broken down doors with guns all night long in case the burglars came back. We shot off a few rounds just for fun and to scare them in case they were waiting back in the woods to re-enter.

So, yeah, to make a long story short, I am very defensive about protecting my family and my property. And, yes, we now have backup systems so in case the phone lines are cut or either AT&T or the cell phone is out, the alarm system can still notify the police.
