Rather a refreshing commentary on current events...IMO.

Rather a refreshing commentary on current events...IMO.

This is actually evidence of thinking that will ensure near term irrelevancy to the far left. I liked how he started his essay pointing out that the problem with health care reform is that nobody can coherently nor succinctly explain what it encompasses. As a taxpayer, that concerns me, and I am guessing that is what concerned most of the Massachusetts voters who cast a ballot for Brown.

However, Keillor then devoted the majority of his cyber ink to bashing Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, the religious right and the usual suspects blamed for unenlightened obstructionism. That is pointless. As Howard Dean stated after the election returns Tuesday, "blaming is for losers". Alas, our friend from Lake Wobegon seems content to sip coffee with his klatch and assign blame instead of analyzing what can be done constructively to improve the chances of health care legislation being passed.

I have always enjoyed the tales from Lake Wobegon as they are always humorous and usually carried an insightful message.
Unfortunately, in my eyes, this column did none of that. It is the same old "we know best, the rest of you are ignorant and uninformed. Here, let us lead you down the right path, nudge you in the right direction." rhetoric so prevalent and so often touted by those on the far left.
The election of Scott Brown was not a victory for the Republican party. It was a victory for the American people tired of bigger government, higher taxes and the arrogance of Washington D.C. politicians.
On a personal note, I am not crowing about Brown's victory nor should others laying claim to being a Republican. I am hopeful, after listening to him on several occasions, that he wil bring some semblence of sanity to what is going on daily in our Congress. Maybe he can lend a creditable voice to the call for stopping the ludicrous spending spree we find ourselves on.
Garrison Keillor ended his diatribe with, "Government is in the hands of realists and in the end we shall prevail. Nothing could be further from the truth.
