Horrific news in South Walton.

Three teenagers were killed and one other critically injured when their SUV collided with a tractor-trailer Monday night on U.S. Highway 98 in Walton County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:28 p.m. approximately one mile west of South Watersound Parkway, FHP reported.

According to investigators, an SUV carrying four 18-year-old passengers was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 98 when it collided with a trailer being hauled by a tractor-trailer that was performing a U-turn in the paved median.

Following impact, the SUV crossed the median and both eastbound lanes before coming to rest in the wood line on the south side of the highway.

Two of the SUV occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two occupants sustained critical injuries and were transported to Bay Medical Center. WJHG has confirmed that one of those occupants involved in the fatal crash has now passed away from her injuries.

So sad.

Three Massachusetts high school seniors have died and a fourth was left in critical condition after a car crash in Florida while on spring break.

Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman of Concord-Carlisle High School were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Monday, April 21, on U.S. Highway 98 in Walton County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Maisey O'Donnell and a fourth student, who remains anonymous, were transported to Bay Medical Center in Panama City, according to CBS News. O'Donnell later died in the hospital, while the fourth student is described as being in critical condition.

Florida Highway Patrol said that the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. when the car, driven by McIntosh, crashed into a tractor-trailer being driven by a 19-year-old. They said "the SUV went across the median ... before coming to final rest in the wood line on the south side of the highway."

There were no other casualties in the accident.
