To iPhone or not

Anybody have the iPhone? I'm finally out of contract with Verizon and I've been wanting the iPhone since it came out. I'm a MAC who will never be a PC again.

Will it live up to my grandiose expectations, or will I be disappointed and sorry I left VZ? How's AT&T to deal with? I don't want it for the camera or the texting, I want it because it is sooooo cool

Definitely more than 8 - I just have the Ipod touch and I have already maxed out the memory w/o adding any aps, just music.

I certainly appreciate all the comments on here. They have been extremely helpful. After reading these posts and other articles, I decided to try the new Motorola Droid with Verizon. I have been with Alltel for 11 years, so I was inclined to stick with them.

One very important note: state law allows you to have a 30 trial of any cell phone plan. This allows you to check coverage as well as phone suitability. I confirmed this is true with the Verizon representative.

The Droid is Google's answer to the iphone. The newest model that I got has a "slide open" keyboard. Just got it yesterday. I will let you know my opinion in 30 days. So far, though, it is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

The Louvre iPhone App's Like Being There Without the Plane Ticket

If you're not traveling to Paris anytime soon to visit The Louvre, then grab the art museum's free iPhone app. It's packed with enough info about its famous paintings to make you feel like you're there on a private tour.
This amazingly slick free app provides a virtual tour of its galleries and lets users check out the works of everyone from DaVinci to Michelangelo. The app gets you up close and personal with paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, and even the French Crown Jewels. Each image comes with its own set of data including the history of the piece, a zoomable photo, technical info like when it arrived at the museum, and even the exact location where it's housed at the Louvre. Some images even include in-depth videos about the piece.
The Louvre app is more than just a way to look at pretty pictures, though. You can also whip through a tour of the building, check out a formal royal palace located on museum grounds, and get visitor information if you plan to go there in person.
This a really fantastic way to browse the art collection of one of the most famous museums on the planet, but it also makes a great tool for teaching kids about art. Got any favorite apps for checking out museums that are too far away to visit? Let us know in the comments.

ok...more questions...GB recommendation?? 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB? What is the difference in the 3Gs and the regular 3G?

The 3Gs is the newest model. I got the 3G 16GB last year. 16GB was the largest storage at the time. I'd buy the most you could afford for storage if you want to transfer an itunes library and have plenty of space for video, photos and apps.

The prices have dropped since I bought mine, too:angry:

Good guide.

The info and tours it provides is cool, but there is really no substitute for seeing the art in person and 3-D.

Downloading it now!

I think this one is one of the best apps!

I'm using a new list app, and developing an entire grocery list/inventory. so far, its pretty handy in the grocery store. but I'm still in the entering items phase so its a bit time consuming. Its easy though and it will be a great help - no more writing a list. just check the items needed. when you purchase them, check it to remove.

you can also use the list app for any other kind of shopping or list making - such as music to buy, or movies to see, etc.

For all you Verizon customers, like me, that have been wishing for an iPhone but can't get out of your contract or want to stick with Verizon, there is hope. Supposedly, Verizon will be offering a version of the iPhone sometime mid/late 2010.

After almost 4 months of AT&T, I can officially say their coverage area
sucks! Absolutely no comparison to Verizon, at least in my area of this world.....

I will also say that they are uber-quick with slapping a big honking credit on the bill, too, without even having to ask.

We've been having ongoing issues with maintaining 3G inside our home. They've credited the entire month's bill twice, for all four phones. Their customer service is top notch, but their coverage area absolutely stinks.
We are in a very metro area where getting 3G coverage (or a great cheese steak) should never be an issue.

Still ♥'n my iPhone, though. So many times I have to be told by my husband or kids to "put that phone down" that it's getting a little embarassing.

sorry c2f - I went to check and I must have deleted the app once I chose the ringtones. It was the ONLY free ringtone I found under apps/utilities. the ones I am using are hysterical. and downright annoying. rap songs about who is calling, also one is a guy that sounds exactly like South Park's Cartman - "I've got a friend, my friend's calling me, you don't have one, my friend loves me... " so stupid but makes me laugh out loud every time my "friend" calls.

the iphone has a few good ones though. one of my best friends calls and my phone barks like some big dog - and we all know who is calling. and it always makes me laugh and sometimes in the store people are wondering where the dog is...

kind of weird for me to use these ringtones because I have never appreciated the ridiculous ringtones oof other people's phones that I have to hear constantly. now its payback.

I'm just having the time of my life with this iphone. never thought I would like a cell phone for anything other than making a call at my convenience.

Edited

I was worried about switching from Alltel/verizon since our coverage has always been excellent here and elsewhere. not a single problem with ATT yet. that is a relief.

My iPhone screen went completely white :( I haven't had time to work with Apple to see if they will fix/replace it. I was devistated. Luckily, I have my sister's old one to get me through until I can get up and running again.

Oh no, I hope you get your iPhone up and running again. Did you take the Apple warranty? I haven't yet, but am now thinking I should.

That app works across multiple platforms. ;-) Perhaps we should bump sometime.

have it. it actually works. but, I prefer entering my own info the way I want it entered, using google contacts on my PC and it automatically syncs on my phone. same with google calendar.
