Now that I have my perfect rental for the summer, I am trying to help my niece out. Her family takes a vacation each summer with 3 other families-all with either babies, toddlers, or both. In the past they have been to Hilton Head in 2 condos, but they really would like to be in one house together so that the adults can sit around in the evenings together while the little ones sleep. I suggested Seagrove, but I am not sure where they should look.

They would like a 5+ bedroom house on the beach side (very short walk to the beach), a community pool (no pool at the house-one father is very afraid of that), adults would be in 4 of the bedrooms so a king or queen bed would be prefered. I don't know the head count of children, but I think a few are in cribs.

I thought of Summer's Edge, but I wasn't sure there were homes that big there. What other developements should I have her look in?

Sorry to respond to my own post-I could also use help finding a rental company that rents homes in the area that fit the above description. I don't know if they want to rent by owner, I think a company would be better for them.

I did look a bit and see that there are homes in Summer's Edge with enough bedrooms for them, but many do not have 4 adult friendly bedrooms and I have a feeling the kids are too young for the upper bunks. It is possible that some of the kids might end up sleeping with the parents; I know the ones in cribs will.

This is probably not what you want, but good friends of ours own a house in Seacrest Beach that is right next to ours -- we're talking 10 feet apart. When the kids are asleep and adults want to gather, a baby monitor is certainly sufficient. The homes are in Seacrest Beach -- which might be farther from the beach than you want (4-5 minute walk). But the development offers free shuttle service to the beach and has a great 12,000 square foot pool that is very popular for families. The pool is a 2-minute walk. We have small children too and don't find it to be a problem.

If you are at all interested, PM me. I can say with confidence that one of the houses (ours :D ) has the best Gulf views in Seacrest Beach and the other one has great views. 7 bedrooms total. Two rooms with bunk beds. The rest kings and queens. Don't know what time period they are interested in, but there is construction going on nearby that is supposed to be completed by early June.

By the way, Seacrest Beach is just north of 30-A. We are in the portion of the development that is closest to the beach. At one point I heard there would be a crosswalk painted by the front entrance of Seacrest, but I haven't been up yet to see if it's happened.

TooFarTampa-I do think they really want to find one home to handle all of them. They have done the two condo with baby monitor before, but now that some of the kids are older the parents worry about them wondering around. When they were all in cribs it was easier.

I know one house for 4 couples plus the little ones won't be easy, but I know there has to be a few homes to fit the bill. With the little bit of looking I have done I think the biggest problem might be a home with 4 adult bedrooms. I keep finding 5 bedroom homes but only 3 bedrooms will have bedding for a couple. I don't think this group really wants to sleep husband and wife in twin beds; bedtime is their only time to be alone! ;-)

As a renter, the site looks good. My only suggestion is to have a link to the pet friendly, if any, rentals you have. It time consuming searching through all the listings. Good luck.

Understood. I thought of something else though. I LOVE this house.

http://beachrentalsofsouthwalton.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7135

It's a 6 bedroom house with three queens, two kings and a bunk room, and it's south of 30A in Seacrest Beach. We have stayed there twice. The first time was a comp from the former owner (a realtor) who was helping us find property along 30-A. We loved it so much we booked it for the following summer for a family reunion. We had four siblings and their families plus my mother in law and her significant other. We were very comfortable.

It does have a private pool, but the pool is enclosed with a gate that is weighted to close automatically. There is no way a child could wander in by accident. The only thing is, if you have tiny kids you can't really lounge by the pool, but you couldn't do that no matter where you were. :D

I have no connection to this house other than staying there and enjoying myself very much. I feel confident that the pool enclosure, assuming it has been kept in good repair, is very safe. It is a nice pool too. The community is gated and actually very close to our house in Seacrest, just on the south side of 30A instead of north.

I also have to mention that while our family was there, we had two toddlers, a preschooler and an infant mixed in with a few older kids. We felt very safe. The only thing we didn't do was bring one of those portable gates for the stairs. They should do that no matter where they are, and they probably know that already.

Pokey,

Check out www.emeraldcoasttours.com/20brownstreet/. The house is very close to Summer's Edge, has 5+BRs, South of 30-A, 2 miles from Seaside in Seagrove, and I think it meets all of the criteria in your earlier posts. Works very well for large families and we have had 4 couples with little peeps give us good reviews on the size and sleeping arrangements.

Good luck in finding something that works for your niece and her family.
