Gulf Coast State College – Student Union East/Conference Center, 2nd Floor, 5230 West Hwy 98, Panama City, (850) 769-1551.

From northwest of Panama City, get onto US 98 E. Turn left onto Alabama Ave. Turn left onto US 98W. Cross Hathaway Bridge and GCCC will be on your left.
From southeast of Panama City, go SW on US 319 toward CR-67. US 319 becomes US 98. GCCC will be on your right before Hathaway Bridge.


Here is the date time and place for the sea turtle training to become a walk for SWTWG. We hope you can attend, it is a great class, I go every year, Make sure you look for and talk to us with the South Walton Turtle Watch shirts on. Also here are the email address for the different walking areas in our turtle watch. Walkers are needed for the summer of 2014. Sea Turtle season is May 1 to Oct 31 and we start walking May 1.

FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) requires that walkers come to a volunteer training session that is held once a year at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fl.

South Walton Turtle Watch looking for beach walkers/turtle watchers for the season starting May 1. If interested, please plan to attend the upcoming meeting for training and to join the South Walton Turtle Watch group:

Wednesday, March 12 | 10am - 2pm

According to South Walton Turtle Watch, this meeting is the turtle watch training for 2014. When you arrive at the college, find SWTW group (look for the tshirts) and sign up for the days you want to walk each week. An area coordinator will walk with you before the season begins for further instruction. Walks begin at day break around 5:50am.

The South Walton Turtle Watch is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to locate endangered and threatened sea turtle nests and to protect them along the beaches of NW Florida during the crucial nesting and hatching season. By law, Only certified members are allowed to interact with endangered sea turtles.
Turtle Nesting Season: MAY 1st UNTIL OCTOBER 31st
