Why do we 1) pay - and how much 2) need a blogger for the TSA? :dunno:

I could understand if they were being paid to find info that had been leaked or were a media spokesperson, but this seems rather dumb at first glance.

And FYI, the last time the kid discussed flew they even had a pre-arranged TSA agent along trying to expedite the security cluster. Rather extreme for a cute kid not on the list, huh?

Weird timing - just got this in the monthly newsletter from the family travel agent:

The Transportation Security Administration's Secure Flight program began taking effect in late 2009. Secure Flight is a behind-the-scenes program that streamlines the TSA's watch-list matching process to enhance the security of domestic and international commercial air travel.
In accordance with this new TSA policy, travelers are now asked to provide additional information as part of the Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) requirements. When customers make a reservation and purchase their tickets they will be asked or prompted to provide the following information:

  • FULL NAME (first name, middle name and last name, as it appears on the non-expired government-issued photo ID they are traveling with)
  • DATE OF BIRTH
  • GENDER
  • REDRESS NUMBER, IF APPLICABLE (This is a TSA-assigned number to customers who believe they have been mistakenly matched to a name on the watch list to help prevent misidentification. For more information, visit www.dhs.gov/trip.)
