Mine is being repaired right now, but has provided good service up until it went out. Then again, I may have gone deeper than the 10 feet allowance. Who knows? But it is the Olympus 850 SW.

I believe that model has been renamed, but they are in the 200 dollar range. You can see my videos (underwater) at youtube or here. On youtube just search under mikecatadjuster.

I have, and like, the Olympus Stylus 790 SW ( I paid $299) -- two years old, waterproof to 10ft, 7.1 megapixels. Works great in good light. Video also capable under water, with sound. Can take much wear and tear. Also advertised as sandproof, and mine has proven to be pretty good, covered in beach sand, as well as being dunked in salt water -- just be sure to follow manufacturer's simple suggestions on cleaning after use in water.

Newer version is the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW -- maybe a year old, waterproof to 33ft, 10.1MP.

Newest verisions:
Olympus Stylus Tough-6000 -- waterproof to 10ft, 10MP. Retail $299 (can find cheaper and look for July 4th Sales)

Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 -- waterproof to 33ft, 12 MP. Retail $399

All are very resonably priced and fit nicely into pocket, so that you will always have it when you need it.

I've had friends who bought waterproof housings for specific inexpensive cameras. They found the housing they liked and bought two of the cameras so if anything went wrong with one they would have a second that they knew fit the housing. This gave them the ability to go deeper than 10ft.

Google your camera model and waterproof case. There are loads out there that are good down to 10 meters and are reasonably priced. No need for a dedicated camera if you can make the one you have work.

For video, we have an iFlip camera with the associated waterproof housing. I used it last week in the Cayman Islands and in the Bahamas. Worked great.

I've seen those. The camera and wire are waterproof but the box that houses the electronics is not.
At least it didn't used to be.
