Our painter will do Conch Out the week following Labor Day. We would like to have it done sooner, but wet months followed by back-to-back bookings preclude that. This gives us time to consider any and all suggestions, which we are very thankful for. We remain completely open-minded at this point. I am printing out all suggestions and have received some in the snail mail, too. Some are incredibly creative and well thought out---impressive! Here are a couple of things we're keeping in mind. First, although we want a color that we are happy with, we are also concerned that the house fits into its environs. We are already apologetic about the size of Conch Out (although we bought it, did not build it), so a jarring color would be politically incorrect and might embarrass her with her fans. Second, wall murals are not part of our current thinking. Finally, the house has a tin roof that will remain in place and two levels of wraparound natural wood decking, which will also remain in place, with probable stain/sealant but not paint. We do not have the budget of the Golden State Bridge Authority to have deck painting on a constant basis.
More food-and-wine pairings coming to a thread soon!
