I was just out walking the dogs and noticed the huge ring around the moon, like the eye of a storm. Very cool. Anyone know what it means, weather-wise?

There was also a beautiful partial ring around the sun not long before sunset, and the high thin cirrus clouds that I have heard called "mare's tails" were really pretty too.
Interesting that the weather folklore says rings often precede a warm front and a storm by one or two days. That is the forecast for today and tomorrow - warmer, then rain.
Cool thread you started Ms. luv puppies,
In the article about moon rings under weather folklore, it mentions the forecast for bad weather is indicated by the # of stars in the ring. When I looked at the moon ring I didn't see any stars and the rain came within 24 hrs. Any other observations?
