Walton County April Bed Tax Collections up 19%

Reports are that July 4th week is nearly full which hasn't happened this early in a long time. Bed tax partners should let the TDC staff know if you have vacancies so they can direct inquiries to you.

That is good news. Is the 19% for the year or the month?

It is for the month, compared to April 2010. March was up about about the same over March 2010. It is remarkable considering last Spring was big.

I think some of the credit should go to the bed tax enforcement team of one. Shallowsnoles rocks!

lol...I do rock, and this has been an incredible spring for enforcement. But I played only a minor role in that, as I was out of the office for an extended period of time earlier this year. I do now have helpers, and they should get most of the credit for our work this year. I don't know what I would have done without them.

But ultimately the credit for the increase goes to our lodging providers, and our visitors, many of whom vacationed elsewhere last year and are now "homesick" for South Walton and our beautiful, wonderful beach.
