Walton County BCC Appoints Restore Act Committee Feb. 26

During their February 26th meeting, the Walton County Board of County Commissioners appointed members to the County’s Local Restore Act Committee.

The members appointed by field are as follows:

1. Environmental – Michael Flynt
2. Coastal Restoration/Mgmt – George Abert
3. Businessperson North – John Magee
4. Businessperson South – John Heiser
5. Tourism Industry – Tim Pauls
6. Fishing Industry – Andrew Jackson
7. Health/Human Services – Crystal Steele
8. Economic Development – Ed Gardner
9. Community Leader – Sara Bowers
10. Educator – Patricia O’Brian-Murphy
11. Arts/Culture – Jennifer Steele

The committee will be tasked with making recommendations to county commissioners for projects to be funded through the RESTORE Act.

I have a question. Are their meetings to be open to the public for viewing and comment?

Yes, it was discussed at yesterday's BCC meeting that any board or committee making recommendations to the county commission or to another county board is required to follow the Sunshine Law and public records requirements.
