Here is the agenda for the County Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014 starting at 9AM at the courthouse in DeFuniak Springs. Items that may be of particular relevance south of the Bay are highlighted in blue. Below is some additional information on some of the items.

1. Resolution to widen 98 from 4 lanes to 6 under the Consent Agenda. This requested action under this item is to "approve a Resolution of Support as requested by the Howard Group". The proposed Resolution is a "Resolution of support for the widening of US 98 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes from the Okaloosa County line to Tang-O-Mar Drive in Walton County. The County information indicates FDOP has funded the design of the US 98 widening project, but not right-of-way acquisition or construction. The proposed Resolution indicates (1) that the Florida Legislature and FDOT "should authorize the widening of US 98 by funding the right-of-way acquisition and construction dollars needed to widen US 98 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes for the portions of US 98 already in design phase" and (2) The Florida Legislature should direct FDOT to study US 98 from Escambia to Bay County and "identify where improvements are needed or will be needed in the near future and prioritize those improvements".

2. Land Development Code Land Uses Ordinance under "Legislative Items". The Comprehensive Plan was amended in 2011. The amendment created some new land use districts, consolidated and/or deleted others. The purpose of this agenda item is to amend the land uses in the Land Development Code to conform to the amended Comprehensive Plan.
