There are many important issues coming up for consideration by Walton County Government, and SWCC will keep you apprised of any of relevance to our mission. We are currently focusing on the Coastal Dune Lakes Protection Zone proposed revisions and the proposed Hampton Inn Development. With regard to the coastal dune lakes, the next important date is February 2nd, 4PM, courthouse annex where the BCC will hold a workshop for the public to give comment and ask questions about the proposed relaxation of restrictions.
I have been told by Commissioner Imfeld that the format for this workshop will be a 5 minute time period each for any citizen to speak to this issue. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND PLAN TO ATTEND even if you do not plan to talk. (I think we saw what a nice crowd appeared for the Planning Commission hearing on the Hampton Inn development, and we would like to continue to let our commissioners know that public interest is equally intense for the coastal dune lakes).
The agenda below for the next BCC meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday morning, January 27th 9AM in DeFuniak Springs indicates that the commissioners will be discussing the next steps in the hearing of the Hampton Inn project. We will keep you informed of important hearing dates.
Please review the agenda below and let me know if you have questions. I have highlighted the issues impacting South Walton County.
Regards, Mary Konovsky
