This is the public’s first chance to have an impact on what “public space design” should look like in the southern part of Walton County. This information will help the designers prepare templates for the six (6) design element groups: Signage, Fencing, Street Furniture, Landscaping, Pedestrian/Bicycling Circulation, and Lighting.

The templates will be discussed and finalized at the design workshop in February 2016 (tentative dates are 2/16 and 17).

More information about the workshop will be available in January 2016.

Public Space Design Guide - Design Element Survey

Survey will run through January 31, 2016. Public participation in this survey is greatly appreciated.

Done! Lots of good questions but not sure what the answers are for South Walton. And I hope a survey doesn't determine signs and lighting - I suppose it's a good start. This is what our "city" planners should be working on in an ongoing project if only we had a city or planners. It concerns me that tourism is driving these decisions. This is a full time residential area for a growing population of people and families..

Whomever designed the survey asked some questions that are "leading" in a particular direction, rather than truly allowing representative answers. Also, some questions should have allowed multiple answers rather than limiting participants to one choice. Did Visit South Walton folks design the questions or an outside company? That question that invoked Napa Valley, Disney, and other such signage was particularly weak - the typical South Walton local and/or visitor can't just conjure up a vision of the signage in those areas. I'd gladly volunteer to assist whomever designed the survey at fixing the biases and inaccuracies...
