I believe tickets can be had for as little as $400 round trip.

Getting to Nosara
This page is an overview of how to get to Nosara, Costa Rica. First, however, you need to get to Costa Rica. You are most likely going to fly, and will be flying to San Jose, or Liberia.
There are a number of airlines that fly to San Jose. Delta, American, Taca, Martin Air, and Spirit Air. You are a bit more limited flying into Liberia, and will most likely be flying Delta or American. I personally like to fly Martin Air and Taca, as the staff is super nice and the planes are new. I almost always fly into Liberia as the drive from Liberia to Playa Guiones is a considerable amount shorter than from San Jose and is super easy, especially now that GPS is available through your Car Rental Agency.
Flying to Nosara from San Jose:

Once you are in Costa Rica, you will need to get to Nosara. If you fly into San Jose, I recommend flying from there to Nosara. It is much easier to fly into Nosara, 45 minutes compared to 5.5 hours in a car. Nature Air is the way to go as they have the best new twin prop planes and operate flights daily...

Now that our airport in Nosara is done with the renovation (we now have a completely new runway), flying will be even easier. I also always stay at the Casa Roland in San Jose, which is right around the corner from where Nature Air flys, making my trips that much easier. You can book tickets at natureair.com or through various travel agencies.

$400 roundtrip from here (SoWal) to that place (Nosara)?? That can't be right...unless it's by Greyhound Bus.

Yes you want to go to Costa Rica!

It is a haul to Costa Rica....but sooo worth it. We just returned from our tico casa in Nuevo Arenal.(in the rainforest region overlooking lake and volcano.) We like the beaches too.
The Liberia airport is most convenient for us also, yet sadly, more expensive. We travel a bit frugally, so we can go 4 times a year. Our most recent visit, we drove from PCB to Orlando, flew JetBlue (230.00 per person) nonstop to San Jose, rented car and drove 3 plus hours to Arenal. Rates fluctuate so check often. Times are just right with this JetBlue itinerary-no other planes land and customs is easy, breezy-no waiting!
Rent your car online before you go to save money.

Have also traveled via Tampa or Ft lauderdale to Miami to Liberia or San Jose ( not recommended -this is the really long way). Also, Atlanta nonstop to Liberia and frequent flyer points. Lots of options to get to Costa Rica- JUST Go-you'll be glad you did.

Is the $230 a one-way ticket?

I've been thinking of checking out Costa Rica sometime soon. I was considering taking a repositioning cruise and jump off in Costa Rica, stay for a week or two, then jet back.

For example, RCCL has an 8-night repositioning cruise next month that goes from Ft Lauderdale to Panama (transiting Puerto Limon, Costa Rica). They have a $299pp inside cabin guarantee ($763 for 2 with taxes). The return trip in April is showing $599 now, but may come down in price as April approaches. Maybe cruising down in Nov and catching the ship back in April might be something Bobby J. would consider.

The padres went to Panama as part of a Costa Rica trip this Spring and loved it! (The actual Costa Rica part wasn't so great because of tons of rain and mudslides etc.)

Thanks for the post Kurt and all the questions everyone. Flights out of FWB right now round trip to Liberia are running $580.00. There is a flight on Delta to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Liberia for that cost.

You can fly into San Jose for a lot less expensive but then have a trip to our house 5.5 hours by car or a 45 minute flight on nature air.

Shelly, yes, out of Orlando the price mentioned above is round trip. I used to drive to Orlando as well, but now have become lazy.

We offer our Casita Ray at $550.00 per week most of the year. if you contact us and let us know you saw it here on Sowal, we will gladly provide a 10% discount.

In the near future, we will be offering guided trips as part of a package.

Costa Rica is a magical place. Come check it out.

Thanks

Ed & Rachel
