A device believed to have been a land mine found around noon today at Blue Mountain Beach turned out to be a rusted out alternator. Deputies from the Walton County Sheriff's Office stood guard over the device, discovered by resident John Windburn, until experts from Eglin Air Force Base could arrive and examined the would be land mine.

Okay, pipe bombs, that aren't pipe bombs at Publix, and now a land mine that is really an alternator? I wonder what they will think when they see Lee Perry's giant geo tube at the water's edge? Hyper paranoia sinking in? Those AF guys should be flying supplies and dropping them over NOLA.

Hey, they were right to be a little cautious. Could have been one of those old "Bouncing Buick" mines - step on the actuator and a '62 Buick flies out of the sand and drives over your arse. :laughing1

Can you imagine the conversatation among the camo guys? "I dunno, Fred, don't look like a mine to me... poke it with your stick 'an see what happens...."
