Weather Station/Anemometer Gift For Husband - HELP

Hi - I think I would like to surprise my husband with a neat gadget for the holidays. I really think he might like an indoor weather station or a handheld anemometer. (we already have the one with temp and humidity but it's very basic obviously) Don't necessarily want one with PC interface as he uses Linux and often things don't always work with open source software. But if it did that would be cool. ;-)

I thought some one out there may have a suggestion - I prefer to get it on Amazon because their return policy is top notch and with a gift, you never know - but I'd consider other companies.

Here's what I was considering:

I have so many decisions that I need to make right now what with the house and all that I am overwhelmed. I just need to find something that is reliable, easy to use (LARGE display - old eyes ), and fun!

I am certain with all you surfers and sailors and geeks out there that someone has a suggestion, and I would appreciate any help.

Grandma kept trying to buy different weather/wind/temp stations for Dad for years and we never found a great one - so unless there is a SPECIFIC one he knows he wants and has researched I vote for just using various internet sites.

Thanks - I bit the bullet and just ordered a hand held anemometer that gives wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, humidity, water temp, wind gusts, etc.... Got it from Kestrel. I hope he likes it. He'll probably say I spent too much and that he can make it without it but he is SO hard to buy for as he doesn't like to accumulate "stuff" ( likewise ). I mean he still wears same clothes he bought 10 yrs ago and even wears his army jacket at times. He's been working so hard and I just wanted to give him a grown up toy.

Yes, but not by me! Food poisoning is not so festive so I am giving treats from the farmer's market and other Sowal businesses!

P.S. The TSA deserves coal - lazy butts almost destroyed the gifts (and my clothes) due to their laziness while searching my luggage. Forgive me for thinking a clear ziploc bag could just be opened/reclosed instead of slashed open w/ a knife. :angry:
