Sowal
I don't say anything to anyone on Sowal that I wouldn't say to them face to face.

And the best way to deal with insults and snark is to just ignore them, not to whine or respond in kind. It's like dealing with a unruly child - don't give them a response, encourage the behavior, or stoop to their level.

In other words, don't feed the trol.

If I really expressed my 1st Amendment rights here,I would be banned for sure.

I think most here just want some civility or politeness.
Before you post, ask yourself,"would I say this to this persons face?" This really works, some just need to try it.

Perception is reality--people see things from different points of view, depending on one's world view, frame of reference, and experience.

I would have no hesitation in saying anything I write or post to a person's face--that's one of the reason's I use my name.

Easiest thing to do if something bothers you, is to hit the ignore button. ;-)

Ah, it's usually the right winger that crawls up on the cross first.

WTW, I've been posting here for years and let me assure that my hand has been slapped on many occasions. One mans insult is another mans frustration. You have to have pretty thick skin when it comes to the Politics forum.

I tend to respond to posts based on the following criteria:

Does the poster engage in other areas of the board?
Does the poster post relevant or accurate material?
Does the poster "seagull the forum" that is hang on the fringes, fly in, and crap all over everything while being really loud?
Does the poster respond to questions when posed to them?

Believe it or not me and Andy A. have not only met in real life, but are very cordial to one another in that arena. We both leave it on the board so to speak.

what is really surprising about politics and name calling. It's been done for years and isn't about to stop. Politicking is a dirty business.

It just wouldn't be the political forum if there wasn't a "call for sanity and civility" every once in while... don't worry, it will pass.

In 6 days, one side or the other will sing "Nah nah nah nah. Nah nah nah nah. Hey hey hey. Good-bye". Things will, then, simmer down, and in a year and a half it will all ratchet back up again. It's cyclical, and it's nothing new. It comes with the forum.

Very true, maybe next Presidential election we can get through it without someone getting banned.

Note: For the n00bs that was a liberal on liberal incident.
